En el punto más septentrional de la isla se encuentra el Ahu Atanga. Esta acumulación de piedra no es ni un altar ni una plataforma para la colocación de Moais. Más bien esta construcción es como una plataforma de lanzamiento. Tiene 30 metros de largo y está ligeramente hundida en el medio, con una marcada elevación hacia la costa. No se sabe nada acerca de este Ahu, y no existe ninguna fuente de lava en las cercanías. El suizo Erich Däniken explica esta estructura como una plataforma de lanzamiento para OVNIS, por lo que también se llama la rampa Daniken. Desde su investigación, la teorías sobre esta rampa abundan.
La canción “A Million Miles Away” habla de ello, y también de otros lugares en el mundo que juegan un papel. Junto a los Moais se mencionan en un solo aliento la gran pirámide de Keops, Machu Picchu, Angkor Wat o Stonehenge. ¿Quién es el responsable de estas maravillas del mundo? ¿El hombre, los extraterrestres, una civilización prehistórica o Dios?
